“In recent years, we have invested over €1.4 billion in expanding B. Braun. Through careful planning and by financing these activities predominantly from our own resources, we were able to implement the program as planned.” Dr. rer. pol. Heinz-Walter Große, Chairman of the Management Board
The global investment program launched in 2007 and totaling €1.4 billion is being continued, with current projects being completed in 2010. In 2009, one of our main areas of investment was the Melsungen location. Here, B. Braun continued work on two major projects with new production facilities for parenteral nutrition solutions and for dialysis machines and infusion pumps. The new central laboratory for research and quality assurance is already in operation.
In December of last year, the company’s management approved a further investment program worth €1.6 billion for the period 2011 to 2014 with a view to building new production sites and extending existing ones. Plans for Melsungen include a third L.I.F.E. factory and a new building for the Works Council and the company doctor. In addition to these projects, B. Braun will be investing in its locations in Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil and Argentina. The investment program is to be financed solely from the cash flows generated over the next years.
These are just a few examples of the extensive investment activities planned for the coming years. This section contains further information about the individual projects.
